Hi parents! Please scroll down after reading this and see a slideshow from Science Force on Monday. :)
THANK YOU TO PARENTS (and Ben's Aunt) for volunteering your time.
The weeks are flying by!
In Math we are moving into place value, number patterns (forward and backwards), and many ways to represent the same number. We are growing in our ability to "explain our reasoning" with math language.
We have learned about singular and plural nouns, and are moving along in learning to write a personal narrative - zooming in on the most interesting part, rather than an entire event (ex: one part of a birthday party, rather than the whole birthday party).
In Social Studies we have identified the 5 Regions of Georgia, and will explore each one over the next two weeks.
Our days are busy, and full, and fun. As always, things are said that make me laugh. Last week we were in the computer lab taking the "pilot test". The children had a poetry passage to read, and 2 questions to answer.
One question: "Have you ever felt like Jill? Explain a time you did feel the same as Jill".
Student (to me): "I have never felt like Jill and I have nothing to write."
Another question: "What did the poet mean....?"
Student (to me): "What is a poet?"
Enjoy your weekend, and enjoy your humorous second grader. You will blink and the days of hearing them say funny things will be over.
