Hi parents!
We had a GREAT morning participating in the National Anthem Project - I hope your child enjoyed it as much as I did!
We also survived the pilot test in the computer lab, along with our first spelling quiz. :)
We have started our first SS unit, Regions of GA, and will be moving into the next part of our Math Unit - Extending Base 10.
THANK YOU FOR THE SNACKS! We should be fine for a few months.
I could use a volunteer to pull apart Scolastic flyers - please send me an email if you can do this - and I will send them home with your child next week.
A word about HOMEWORK: I have started checking homework - whether or not it was turned in. There will be a homework grade in Math and Rdg/Lang. Arts. Unless there is a family emergency, homework is expected to be turned in the next morning. I know occasionally a binder gets left at school - please communicate with me if there is a reason homework is not turned in. The expectation is that you will go over homework for accuracy with your child at home. If your child is spending longer than 30 minutes on homework, please communicate with me. I try to only send practice of skills we have already covered. Spelling was new this week, and there was some confusion, I hope it gets less and less confusing for you!
I am beginning parent-teacher conferences next week - and am looking forward to that time with each of you.
In closing, here is a "funny" overheard today:
Student 1: My mom is older than my dad.
Student 2: My dad is older than my mom, but she is taller than him!
Oh the wonders of being seven and eight.....
Enjoy your weekend, and enjoy your second-grader!
