Highlights from this week: 1. We had great participation with the NFCC food drive. Thank you! 2. We enjoyed comparing/contrasting versions of the same story (The Little Red Hen). 3. We began our non-fiction writing about reptiles. 4. Many students "caught the bug" for the "Beginning Chapter Book Club". :) 5. We learned about the rotation of the earth which causes day/night, and the orbit of the earth around the sun which causes seasons. Stay warm this weekend! Mrs. Brim Hi Parents, It's been a short and busy week. I hope you enjoyed the long "Fall Break". It was great to see so many of you at the performance this morning. I thought the whole second grade did a spectacular job. Highlights from this week:
We are running low on emergency snack again. Any donations would be appreciated. And I am always looking for small items for the treasure box if you happen to have things from home, or see items on sale. Have a great weekend! Mrs. Brim Parents, As a class we enjoyed all of our "Boosterthon Class Rewards" this week....we had 10 minutes of extra recess, wore socks in the classroom, enjoyed an ipad hour, wore hats, and ate popsicles! Thank you so much for your pledges and donations! Today we have celebrated our personal narratives (writing about something that happened to us). Our focus has been to "zoom in on a small moment". The final products are fabulous! Our writing focus for the next 9 weeks will be "Informational Writing". We have already been to the computer lab to research a reptile... a fun beginning, and a nice change of pace. Reading groups are off to a great start and I am enjoying working with each group. I see so much progress every week. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS: The Second Grade Music Performance is next Friday, Oct. 18th at 8:00 am in the Cafeteria. REPORT CARDS: I am in the process of inputting grades -- and report cards will come home next week. Have a great LONG weekend! Enjoy this amazing Fall weather, and enjoy your amazing second-grader! ~Mrs. Brim |
